I have three mushrooms on one rock that is about 2 ½ inches long and an inch wide. I know they are all going to get larger and I would like to separate them. How can I do that safely for them?

you could just cut the rock.

I saw someone on RF using a tile cuting saw but this rock is a little too small for that. I guess I will just get out my hammer and chisel.

Just use a dremel with a carbon cut off wheel. That is what I use when fragging and need to cut rocks.

Oh, cool, I have a couple dremel tools and ton of attachments. I will have to see if i have one of those cut off blades. I have a couple baby ricordias on another rock that needs to be moved too.

I've had really good luck just gently peeling the mushroom off the rock, and placing it where I want it in another location. If there is flow in the new location I use a little wedding tulle to hold it down until it adheres. If there's not a lot of flow, or I'm putting it directly on sand I just place it and leave it, or make a small rock wall to hold it in position. Done this with rics and regular mushrooms lately, probably going to regret it as I've have them all over now. I don't have enough rock that I want to brek up any of the current stuff.

I can show you the cut off wheels that I use when you come by to pick up the rics today. Just might have to remind me. *lol*

I did that in the past with a blue/purple shroom and now my little nano display has tons of shrooms all over the place. *lol*

The rics are on a rock that I dont really want anyway, so If I can cut a piece of the rock off with them, I can glue them down somewhere and get rid of that rock.

Exactly!! That's the best way to do it, IMO. It works great for us. And with mushrooms, they do spread fairly quickly, but if you want more, you can cut a mushroom in half, just make sure to get a piece of the mouth on both sides, and voila, you have two mushies!

I don't know about cutting the poor things in half. :shock: I can just hear them screaming. No no no I dont think so. I can cut the rock. If they want to reproduce thats fine. I am not cuting them in half.
