Dang, did you know ?Tap plastics said to me e6000 could release chemicals into the water that would would give off toxic gas and does not recomend this for aquariums. I am scared to use this i decided not to.good luck I am just going to reseal and maybe use another 90º piece to support and help seal it in place .

Is this only when curing Paul? Did they say it will leech stuff after its cured????

I know many things that are dangerous when wet/curing, but when dried/cured completely harmless. I'm just curious.

Best,

Elmo I asked them that specifically and there reply was that it very well could . Anyway I've drained mine and dried it and resealed it mostly will hopefully get it running this weekend maybe :)

You could always use whatever adhesive you want for the structural/sealing purpose, then follow up with a thin smear of silicone or epoxy (depening on what is more approprate for the application) to coat the potentially dangerous glue under it.

liveforphysics so you think silicone will seal any gas/ chemicals from coming/leaching thru ? It sounds good?

E6000 addhesive will release some chemical in to the water,,don't know for sure how bad it is but i am gonna take a chance,,silicone will be the best way to go,,
i got the test water in the tank 2 days ago,,,,yeah!! no leaked,4 tunzes and two nosel for return outlets really move the water,,,,sand and rock will go in this week end,,,i got the buyer to the restaurant,,,and looks like i got 2 months to moved,,,yes my tank should be ready by then,, hopefully :) :)

I haven't been able to find any 'outgassing' data specifically for E6000. I can tell you that outgassing is very important issue for adhesives in sensitive environments such as optics and medical. A key to look for is food grade or medical grade materials.

We have an extremely fast curing acrylic adhesive called CB200 which is not approved for space applications involving optics but it is very effective in bonding acrylics and glass. I actually want to do some testing to determine if it would be a great adhesive for mounting items in a saltwater environment. I know it will perform excellently as far as strength. We provide it to the marine industry but it performs so well in saltwater, fuels, solvents, etc.

Not much help yet but I am still looking into it.
