Looking forward to this build! Always intrigued to see the cool stuff people do with small tanks. Good luck with it and don't sneeze to close to the tank:p

Sorry for the delay...been working double shifts and haven't had much time to get around to the pics until now. I had originally had the hammer at the bottom but was starting to bleach which I figured meant it wasn't getting enough light. Moved it about half way up and in a spot with more flow and seems so much happier now. My small candy stripped anemone seems to dislike light which seems odd to me. Kinda hides during the day and when the moonlight is on but comes out when all the lights are off. Placed it where the hammer was at the bottom but still acts the same.

These are using my iPhone so they aren't as good as I would like...

I have a BRA coupon for a free coral so trying to figure out what to either put in the middle on in the bottom right that wouldn't require too much light.

Going tomorrow to BRA. Any suggestions on a coral for the substrate? Was think a brain would work and my wife likes those...gotta keep her happy! =)

Well they didn't have any BRA brains or favia there so just let my wife pick out whatever she wanted (that we could keep and fit within the confines of the free BRA coral coupon. So end up with the "Blue Polyp Coral" you see below. I figured that was a generic name that means they didn't know the exact name? Either way I think it looks good. I didn't plan on getting a fish for this tank but she really wanted one and just so happens they had an Eviota Goby and he has been named Bob.

Oh and since my red candy cane anemone doesn't like too much light he got moved to under the shelf as you can see...seems happier.

I have both blue clove and purple star polyps and I think the they look more like purple star polyps.

The goby is so cute. He will be fun to have in that tank.

Corals look to be blue cloves. Atleast to me. Tank looks really good. What kinda waterflow you got in there?

My filter puts out 58GPH and I have a MP10. The MP10 is on reef crest mode and I have it get to a max of 4 on the controller...considering the ranges of 200-1500 GPH, I am guessing that it goes from 200-500 throughout the day. Correct me if I am wrong since I am just guessing.

Oh cool, looked up some pics and think you are right. Thanks for the ID, IPisces!

The purple star polyps are easy to control. Just like the green star polyps, they grow on a mat that you can peal off if they get someplace you dont want them. Keep them away from your other rock and you wont have any problems. They seem to grow pretty quickly.

Blue clove polyps are a smaller polyp and can be very aggressive growers. If you have LPS or SPS they are not so bad, but they can choke out zoas.

if you are a member of the gsas they rent out a par mete which are for free. Rapid Led also sells one for 300-400 bucks. You might try finding someone near by that could rent it out though.

Its been a long while since I have updated this tank build so here it goes. The tank was pretty much stagnant for a couple months with various expenses and lack of motivation keeping me from adding to it. In the last month or so I have done a few things and my motivation is stronger than ever.

Took out the old rock since I didn't like it and replaced it with the one in the pics below. Added some eagle eye zoas, some green palys (not sure the name of them), a brain and a small rock that has a couple of kenya trees with generic palys. Still have the hammer which started off with 3 heads and is now up to 8!

Hoping to add more soon but want some other colors in there so thinking of getting a yellow/orange ric and maybe a blasto or dendrophyllia since I have some shaded areas. We'll see since I will probably change my mind again. Feels like the hammer is getting too big for the tank along with the larger kenya tree so might put those up in the classified section to trade or sell for cheap.

Thanks! It's far from done though and I'll be taking advantage of these sales so I'll be getting a couple of coral today. I'll update tomorrow once I've figured out where to place them.

Got a ric, zoas and a chalice yesterday...trying to figure out where to place the chalice since I don't know a great deal about them but think I have a decent ledge that gets good flow. So I'll probably glue it there and I will update with a pic once I do that.
