Sorry to hear Adam! I hope it all worked out. In my old tank (with double overflows) I had a snail get stuck in one and i was sure happy I had two! I have just one on my 60 gallon but it is 1 1/2" wide so the snails sail right thru to the sump.

You would be better with a ato with 2 floats. One in the sump to kick on when it is called for and one in the tank that will prevents the ato from kicking on when the tank is high. If something happens that your over flow gets clogged, the second float in the tank will prevent the flood. Experience is a powerful learning tool.
