hey hows it going i know theres a few clam lovers here and i picked up a nice giant australian clam its from northern west australia its only about 15 cm long and can u tell how old they are by the number of ridges on the clam if so it is about 9

Nice clam Morgan and your tank is looking great! I don't know about the age thingy though...Just ask the clam:p J/K I'm sure someone will know:)

no im lfs owner hand picked it from the reef no one dose cultivating which could spark sum serios money
io use a 14,000k mh light the pics are slightly darker because i have the camera let less light in to reduce glare i will be changing to a 20,000k in a few months
and thanxs krish

thats a gorgeous maxima clam there.. never heard the shute theory as to telling the age of a clam. If that was true the poor crocea clams wouldn't be able to tell age cause they don't have shutes, nor do the derasa clams.

i know u cant keep cleaner wrasse with clams but what about 6 line i have a gourges six line i want to put in my many tank but not if hes going to eat my clam the clam is very reactive to shadows and has a good mantel extension dose anyone eles have one of these clams witha 6 line

6 line wrasses are a great fish to keep with clams. Those that have found pyramid snails usually keep a 6 line in with the clams as they are known to keep the pyramid snails away. I've had several 6 lines in with my clams, it is not a problem.

What other wrasses are clam friendly?

Thanks
Don

the china wrasse is another great wrasse to keep with clams that will keep the pyramid snail population down. the yellow wrasse, can't think of the common name right this second. I have had 2 of the yellow's and they are a great wrasse and a plus with pyramid's. Those are off the top of my head...

I believe that's the Halichoeres chrysus:D
The Yellow wrasse can chow down on your ornamental shrimp...mine made quick work of a pistol shrimp.
Also all the Fairy Wrasses are fine with clams but will not take care of any pyramid problems.

BTW gorgeous clam Morgan !
