I decided today that I'd give in to the urge to re-plumb my closed loop (that I've been contemplating for a while) to try and get more out of it, as well as to try and balance out the flow coming out of each nozzle without the use of the lockline valves I had to put on to do this. I was really happy with the results. Everything worked out according to plan...
Here are the befores and afters:)

This was the first plumbing setup. You can see how far the return pump is from the suction as well as how far the water will have to travel to get back into the tank. Too many bends and I did something stupid and had the return enter from the right side (looking at the photo) instead of dead center, which caused that side to be a lot stronger than the other.

These are the 3/4 lockline valves I had to use to control the flow coming out of each output to balance them all out. I didn't want to use them because they were so bulky, but at the time, I didn't want to re-plumb.

This is a side shot showing how crappy they look sitting in the tank. Too bulky IMO!

Now here's what I have now. I re-located the pump right behind the tank on a shelf I added, and tied in the return in the center pipe that joins the 4 outputs together to balance out the flow which enabled me to get rid of the 3/4 lockline valves as well as the Maxi Jet I added about a week ago for the extra flow. This was the best I could do with the plumbing without completely tearing it all out and starting over. It was really tight in there, but it works for me. The flow is soooo much better now and it feels like I added a bigger pump in there just by changing up the plumbing:)

i think the Tunze nano stream would be good enough for you so you'll end up with the real deal again

LOL! I "think" I am content right now with the flow. I'll have to see what becomes of it whenever "things" are added in there to see how they react to it, but for right now, I'm happy:)

well as long as you're happy with it..... that's all that matters :).
i do think you should add another maxijet to give more flow

just kidding :D .

LOL...I took the one I had out. I didn't have time to set the nozzles where I need them (I just made sure there were no leaks and the water was flowing really good), but I will adjust them tomorrow and see:)

LOL! I'll get a pic tomorrow of the side shot so you guys can get a look at how it all fits. I was going to play with the rockwork, but realized, I only have 5 rocks

Yeah, yeah you changed the flow  big freakin' deal  Let ME hear about the new 10K Xm bulb, have you tried it yet? It will take some time getting used to the whitish color and you have to let it burn in to get the real spectrum.

BTW I was just kidding about the flow issue it looks like you did a hell of a job :D

is the halide box in the pick because you bought a new light, or to compare the size of the valves to it?????

ROFL!! I know Jorge!:p About the 10K, I just put it aside for now...That is one serious bulb! You can see way too much in the tank with that bulb. Everything that is free floating or whatever, you can pick up under that bulb so I put it aside for now until I get some stuff in there so I don't spend my time focussing on every little spec that passes:D

I used that bulb for my closed loop! It is supposed to give you 1,000 more GPH if you sit it inline of the return coming from the closed loop pump. The heat makes the water take off like an after burner:p Naw man...That pic was an older one taken when I got some new stuff in that I just took to show everyone:)

It looks pretty cool man. It looks alot better. I bet a coral or two would fit right in there. LOL
ricordia on a rock smaller than a quarter dollar or collectable. Other wise they are protected.

why do you need a halide in there??? are you adding some corals??

Only time will tell;)

LOL...Thanks Steve! BTW, does your Quiet One get hot?? Man, I don't know if it was how I had it plumbed the first time, but when I pulled it out, and the water spilled over on my hand coming from the pump, it was HOT!! I couldn't believe it! I felt the pump when I came home and it was alot warmer than it was before the move, but man...That was strange!
