Guys,
Yes, my yellow tang doesn't eat seaweed anymore. I tried to change to different types of seaweed and still no luck. However, I try to but some frozen blood worm, and he seems he enjoys it.

I am for sure it is not a good sign for a yellow tang. Is there any alternative food he should eat beside the seaweed?

Thanks.

you need to feed frozen cubes that have the seaweed mixed in with the mysis and other shrimps.
it is imprtant for your tang to eat its greens!
dont forget the tang is also grazing in your tank all day and is getting some agea while grazing..

Have you tried garlic? I have heard it can stimulate there apatite

Yes, I have indeed. Garlic has been used since last month. No luck for the yellow tang. WHenever I put down the frozen blood worm, he eats all ????

I need inputs from Experts, please.
Thanks coil1002

You should try to entice him with cyclopeze they usually stimulate everything to eat...
Other wise this may be a bad sign of the fishes health deminishing...

Matt

the fish needs the seaweed as its primary food...you could try using Zoecon or Selcon..the B12 may help stimulate its apppetite.. does the fish look healthy??? anything strange about its looks??? you could try Ocean Nutrition's Formula 2 ..this is one of the frozen ones that Matt was referring to i think..i use it..my tangs love it, but their primary food is the seaweed...you may want to check your water parameters....tell us about the tank..how old is it?? what are the parameters??? how often do you perform water changes??

Ron,
The fish looks just fine. There is no sign of sickness I could tell. I tried have him some formular One as Ben gave me as sample. He ignored it.

The water parameters are good. I change 10%-15% of water one of the other day.

Isn't it weird?

You inputs, please
thanks

the Formula One is not for herbivores..they will eat it, but it doesn't have the nutrition that they need..i would keep trying the seaweed..if you can get live graciliria, they will normally eat it up!!!

If the tang is taking dry food, try omega one super veggie flakes....I've used it for years with my tangs and it's pretty good stuff. Also might want to hang a sheet of nori in the tank, to give him something to graze on if he feels like it.

Thanks, MikeS. I'll stick one piece of seaweed in the tank for him. Just toooo afraid that will destroy the water quality ;)
