Good Evening,

Having just loaded about 40 lbs of LR in my new 55G, discovered these guys poking out of one of the rocks.

Anybody know what it is? Closest I can come looking in the books is some sort of Zoanthid.

Thanks in advance!

Dan

star polyps.
what kind of rock is it?
i purchased about forty pounds of beautiful jakarta live rock from the shark reef in silverdale which had quite a bit of these polyps on it. they have grown and spread. they've also taken on a really bright green color as they've gotten bigger.
nothing wrong with free zoos

Yep green star polyps. Very cool fast spreading coral. My experience, dont put any thing you love near it as it will grow over almost everything it touchs. (I have lots of it) As it grows you can put live rock rubble next to it and it will encrust. Cut it and trade with L.F.S. or friends for other corals. Mine almost looks like grass waving in the water. Sometimes you can peel a big hunk up as well. Just toothpick or rubberband it down and start a new colony. Mine likes lots of light, medium current (not direct) and will not take any foods I have offered. Hope that helps. P.S. Awesome coraline on that rock.
