so im running Arag-Alive Bahama Oolite live sand in my tank and have a Nassarius Snail in my tank.

question is:

should i worry about the thick slime trail he leaves behind on top of the oolite live sand. it creates a layer of goo when he come by. will his slime evaporate or should i ditch the Nassarius Snail?

thanks

I've read that its safe. It helps them move across the sand. How long does it take to disappear? Maybe add more flow. Is this in your 180 or 12g?

I get slime trails from my nassarius snails all the time. I only notice them when I've seen a snail recently though. They usually don't stick around long. Is the trail for some reason persisting for more than a couple hours? From what I've read these snails are good for your aquarium since they aerate the substrate and feed on detrius and excess food. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's really bothering you.

i got the oolite sand because it was very fine in grain. the only thing that bothered me was the residue it left on the top of the sand. and wondering if that would evaporate

If the slime stays on the sand for a long period then you more than likely have little to no flow at that point of your tank. I had pretty much the same sand in my previous set-up with about 15 nassarius snails and never had a problem with snail trails. If the snail trail bothers you, you can always give the snail away.
