Need advice for a new tank build

Hey folks-

I'm using a mag drive as a return on my current set up, and it's a bit loud. I'm building a new system, and would like to keep it quiet...any advice? I don't particularly care if the return is internal or external, but I'll need a pump for sump return and one for a cl. Dolphin, iwaki, eheim...suggestions? Thanks for any advice!

Our work tank has an eheim 1262 for a 200gal tank and you can even hear it.

I'll bet you meant to say can't hear it.
I agree they are one of the bestand quietest submersable pumps you can buy.

If a chiller is in your plans look at the Poseidon pumps. They are dead silent, but have a tendency to add heat to the water.

Thanks mike and finn-i've been looking at the eheims, good to hear your advice as I have no experience with them. I'll have to look into the poseidon's as well. Looks like there's a dolphin in the equip. for sale section, anyone use them? a lot of folks in OR used iwaki...any word on that brand? THANKS ALL!

We've been running a Dolphin Ampmaster 3700 as our main pump for over a year. Very quiet running pump, and it's been extremely reliable. We also have 2 Iwaki pumps. I used one for water changes, it was plumbed directly to the sump, and then permanently connected to the drain (tank was protected by check valve and ball valve, one on either side of the pump). Much louder than the Dolphin for much less water movement.

ok. I'm running 2x eheims 1262s as returns and you cant hear them, at all, the loudest piece of equipment is my dart and i have to be within 2 ft to hear that.

great feedback-sounds like a dolphin or eheim will be my final choices, depending on whether I want to pump internal or external. Thanks a lot folks!
