okay i have 2 fish that are not doing so well, 400 gallon system 300 display 100g sump fudge been up for 9 months now most of the rock sand came from 100g system i had up for over a year params look normal but ill double check again, currently residing puffer, longnoose butterfly, orange spot blen, and Pseudochromis

the butterfly has been in my tank for 2 months now acts normal eats like a pig is not shy at all recently i i caught a few tiny tiny white spots on his tail

now the puffer on the other hand is my baby, two days ago i threw krill in and he chases it around the tank as the pumps blow it around (hes like a little puppy), well i walked away for a bit came back 30 min later and he was stuck to the bottom of the closed loop intake, i catch him there all the time (hes lazy and it holds him in once place and usually as soon as he sees me coming he swims the front of the glass to follow me around the tank) this time he didnt move so i panicked and unplugged the pump, all of his spines on the top were sticking stright up and his face looked a little bloody/red hes has been healing up and looks 100% better today than he did but his eye is whats worrying me now its very puffy and cloudy hes still out swimming has ate a little not a lot though and im not sure what to do??

Oh, I missed this part "recently i caught a few tiny tiny white spots on his tail".

Not long ago we had a tang that had ick, I think the stress of ick then caused it to get Pop Eye, a few days later we lost the tang.

Have you looked at the Puffer first thing in the morning before the lights come on? Sometimes its easier to see Ick cysts in the morning.

Lee I am sure could offer better troubleshooting steps.

Looks like it probably injured its eye and it has become infected. Might have done it being stuck on the intake. The food gets stuck there and they go to get the food and get stuck. Try bigger screen cover so the suction does not trap the fish. I would try to catch the fish out and do a good antibiotic that is designed especeally for the eyes in a concentrated dip. Do not use a net to catch your puffer, use a juice pitcher or something similar. Don't want it to puff up in a net and get stuck. If you have good hiding spots that are small enough to hide LARGE cleaning shrimp from your puffer you maybe able to add some to help control the ick. Because of the size of the system it would be cheaper and more effective to dip them. The ick infected fish could even be fresh water dipped...

I'd really like to do this right and if I do a hypo treatment i need to catch all the fish right would it be better to wait for puff to heal or should I start immidiatly I want want tk out him through to much

His eye doesn't look like pop eye it's just very cloudy now he has healed up well exect the eye so far he is still out kinda swimming around

It would be better to treat the eye. Higher possibility of loosing the eye without treatment. When they can not see well they are more likely to run into something again. Maybe even quarintine. Sometimes with the ick, i have noticed that it can be more frequent if there is extra high stress level in the tank. If you can get larger cleaner shrimp that would help, but you have a high possibility of them being lunch. FW dip is still the more cost effective and least stressfull for the fish. Can also add some treatment to the freshwater dip. If the case is slight sometimes it will cycle through without much harm. Some fish are more subseptabile than others...

alright got him in a qt tank he looks a little worse than i hoped it looks like his top is scabbing i dont know if fish even do that and his eye very cloudy i figured one problem at a time get puff healed since all the other fish are eating fine worry about the butterfly next

To lower the stress level you might lower the light level. Usually the treatment is harder on the owner than the fish. LOL Try and make sure there is nothing to run in to while in quarintine. I see a heater...could be burned if the fish lays on it. Make sure to keep the water parameters as good as you can. They are messy eaters and create a lot of waste. I would keep the fish there until the eye is completely healed and they eye is clear. Great job..

He's chillin in the garage so there will be little light the heater was in there for a bit cause the water cooled down a little it was pulled out Half an hour later any suggestions on treatments or should I let I run it's course?

I would find something that is specificly for a eye injury. I would not let it run its course! I believe Mardel makes something. I am sure most brands would be fine. Check out the online places they always have a good description for the reading. Or maybe someone else may know of the specfic Med. Just follow the directions :) So is the quarintine tank a system or what. You said you pulled the heater out. Stable temp will help keep the fishes stress down while in quarintine. Needs to be "comfortable " as posssible. Will help the fish heal faster, kind of like us.

FS has the Mardel Maroxy which I really like thier products and Kordon also had a product. Wasn't as easy as I thought, lot of meds out there...

I usually had my qt set up in the house where it's much warmer but I moved it to the garage so there would be less light and it's just a little cold in the garage for the tiny heater I had in it. So looks like it might have to stay in there till I find a better solution

You can get some kind of a divider to keep the heater away from the fish, but still keeping the temp more stable. Small power head or air stone for movement. Also keep an eye on the water level to keep the salinity in specs.
