So just noticed this today.I have had this rock since second day i started the tank approx 2 weeks before i started on here now this is growing on here my guess is a cap of some pretty sorts? YOURS?

Could be a form of plating coralline algae. I've only seen it in person a couple of times, it's really cool. There are a few people, here on RF, that have it growing in their tanks. It grows just like a plating Montipora.

Wow.......................pretty amazing what comes up after a while. I have not seen anything like that on any of my rock.

It's just a guess from pic's I've seen before but If it dosn't have any polyps, I would guess Plating Coralline algae.

hey guys and gals I was watching it today !It has doubled in size and gueeees what>It is a soft tissue .hmmmmmmmmmmm wierd now even my guesses are offf.Yep when the rk1 switched pumps it started to move around in the current .let hope some more pics when bigger and (MIKES) research find something..I am excited!

I now have two different type of "PLATEING corline aglae"
dark purple and light purple/pink

Its an algae species, but not coralline.

So is it just a species that over time will just appear?I know for many years this rock was a supporting rock under many others and just about 8-9 months ago i maDE it the piece where it is now.I mean If this is algea it is the prettiest i have ever seen!
