Need Info on the Gecko Goby

Today I bought a gecko goby from saltwater city. It's an awesome looking little fish. Resembles the 2 spot goby. I can't seem to find much info on the little guy. Has anyone kept one?? It's such a cool looking little fish. I would appreciate any info anyone could give me on the little guy. Thanks a bunch!

Becky - can you post a picture of the little guy? Maybe it was misnamed. I haven't come across a picture, but here is a link....it says these guys come from Gulf of California.

He has been hiding in the rocks, so a picture of my exact goby is impossible. I have seen him grab some mysis from morning feeding. He is a rocket feeder I just see his blurry figure cause he's so fast. He looks like the one in the picture, but his dorsal fin and back fin have interesting markings. All of his other fins have unusal markings on them also. He is deffinately not a 2 spot goby, but resembles the body style. A very cute looking little fish. His zebra stripes are almost yellowish. He really doesn't have the same coloring as this pic, but the same body style. I found the pic saying it was a gecko goby. They must vary GREATLY from fish to fish. He is very small. Maybe an 1.5" or less.

That picture doesn't do this fish justice. He's absolutely awesome. He hangs upside down on rocks and isn't afraid of the blenny or clarkii at all. I started seeing him today and he's absolutely gorgeous. He adds a nice complete look to my tank. Still can't find much info on him. Obviously the little guy eats mysis and formula 1. I will try and get a pic of my actual fish. He is still a bit skittish, but I think he knows I'm the big boss with the food. lol

The geck goby is Chriolepis zebra. I can't seem to find any pictures on the web of this goby.

This is a species that is not often seen in a reef aquarium because they come from the subtropical waters off the coast of California. If you want it to live for more than a few months then it should be kept in an aquarium with a temp between 68 and 72F max. Fish from subtropical waters that are kept at say 80F usually only live a short time. This is a good example of why we need to research every species prior to purchase.
