Does anyone know where to get some scrap neoprene to use to isolate vibration from pumps in the sump? I've seen sites that sell 35# boxes of the stuff, but I don't want/need that much.

Any local shops to Seattle?

Thanks,

I'll be trying something soon...I need something that remains "soft" to put under my mag 7 and my skimmer...it's about the only noise I have left in the system.

I usually take a piece of vinyl tubing a little longer than the pump itself and slit it down the middle so I can flatten out the tubing. wrap the flattened chunk of tube around the pump or just on the bottom, and it works pretty decent to help kill most of the sound.

I use a piece of "ensolite" camping pad.

mouse pads seem to deteriorate over time with exposure to water...my experience anyway.

Don, I'll look into the camping pad...that is along the lines I was thinking.

If I remember correctly, you are about the age when the ensolite camping pad just isn't making it anymore, and you feel the need to switch over to the ultralite (1" thick) thermorest pad. So you should have a "spare" ensolite pad hanging around ... :)
