I picked this little guy up at an LFS. He was hanging onto a leather and they had a hard time getting him off. After putting him in my tank, he found my yellow leather right away and made it his hangout. I don't know what kind of starfish he is, so please post if you have some idea.

Here is an arm under the leather, backlit from the light above:

Definately Kewl!!! :D

I would just guess Species Ophiothrix spiculata, which just generically is "brittle Star Fish"??? ;)

That is a cool lookin star fish. I hope it isnt eating your leather and just makin you think he is hiding in it:shock:

Matt

It is called Sarcophytophytic Ophiothrix also known as toadstool eating brittle star.

Naw, I just made that up.:D Really cool looking brittle star. Be sure to feed it so it doesn't become predatory.

It is a sweet looking brittle, only about 3" in diameter if the arms are streched out. The actual main body is ony about 3/8" in size.

I use a Nikon D70 wiith a 90mm macro lens.
