Hamilton 14K produce 69 ppfd

Now these are all using Icecap ballast but regardless what ballast, you may do better or less but the ratio comparison is a big difference in PAR or ppfd

Now as far as your corals needs, research on each types you have will help determine what they will need, also remember you can locate more light demanding corals higher & have great effects. None if this is cut & dry, too many variables comes into play.
 
I used to love the hamilton 14k's until I tried some other brands. The hamilton's IMO are absolute garbage after 8 months or so. After 6 months I noticed a change in growth and coloration of my SPS and after about 8 months I could see the deterioration of the light quality with my naked eye. I have gone through 2 pairs of these bulbs and saw the same results in both sets. All in all I would say that the hamilton's aren't the best 14k bulb on the market but also not the worst. Not a bad value for less than $60 but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for.;)
