Hey all im new here just wanted to say hi and have a question.. I am upgrading tank and sump
I have built a phosphate reactor and wondered if using a uv sterilizer in addition is a benefit or defeating the purpose?

Welcome to Reef Frontiers. There is lot of good info here. You have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask. Tell us about your tank or about your plans for a tank. We all love to hear about others tanks and see pics when you can post them.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Welcome!

In regards to your question, the phosphate reactor and UV sterilizer are for two different purposes. One shouldn't effect the other. The reactor is specifically for phosphate removal, depending on the media you use as well. UV is for clearing out free-floating potentially harmful micro organisms.

Welcome Charlie, Mark answered your question, so I'll just say welcome.
:welcome:
IMO the reactor is very useful, they both can benefit but if I had the choice the reactor would be my first choice, you can run carbon phosphate remover etc.
