I made a trip to the LFS Friday evening and bought a leather that caught my
eye, they called it a vietmanese finger leather. I can't seem to find what it actually is and not sure how to tell if it is healthy and located correcly in the tank. Any help will be greatly appreciated.<P>

Thanks for looking and any advice or suggestions.

I have a leather like that and it started to brown up with goo within the first few weeks. I moved it to a spot where it gets LOTS of flow and now it looks great - so my recommendation is to give it alot of flow.

i have a 250w 20k halide on it and it is near the top of the tank is that a good spot or is it too much light for it?

Hello,
It's likely a Sinularia sp. Low to moderate water flow in the lower half of the tank would be best. A very hardy coral that does well in a wide variety of environments.
The family of Nephtheidae which includes more than 20 genera and hundreds of species, can be very difficult to identify especially down to the species level. It is also possible to be Paralemnalia sp.

Regards,
Kevin
