I found a guy who was moving and I ended up giving him $40 for a percula, I damsel I think(pic below)? a cleaner shrimp, 2 head torch coral, and 2 pieces of LR that come out to be ~30lb. Now the issue is the LR has a crazy amount of aiptasia on it. I have a bottle of aiptasia-X but not sure of this is the way to go. The pics below are from the tank I took the LR form. I gave the percula and cleaner a good home but I have the LR in a bin with water and a power head wondering what to do...

Honestly I just prevented an out break in my new tank. And I just went a hardware store. If you have one "harbor freight" has like a 6 dollar hand torch that my LFS said works. Just take the rock out, and torch each one for like 30 seconds. They haven't come back yet

Bleach soak, vinegar soak, fresh water soak, then let it sit out to dry. It won't be LR anymore but there won't be any pests left either. It will soon turn back into LR and color up.

+1 I'm with eww

+2. Not worth the chance of an outbreak. Bleach it, Soak it, Fresh Water Soak, RODI soak and then let it get bone dry. Then start a cure cycle.

+3 to what was said by Eric (eww).. Trust me, you do NOT want aptasia in your main display...take the time and kill it now and start from scratch with the LR..

Im thinking in doing this in my wifes 20... Aptisia all over.
I could just move the corals to my tank and take the crabs and stuff to mine.

Set up a qt and move the coral to it. They may carry spores of aiptasia to your tank. You dont want that.

No i wouldnt. I got some rock from a lady got from a tear down. Thru a piece in my 29 and the rest in my wifes 20... And boom 5 or 6 spots popped up.
I was so mad

Pulled them back out and moved them into her 20. Hehe is filled with aptisia :/

aptasia is like kudzu..is spreads very fast, so need to take action fast and kill those little buggers..

I should just burn them.
How much bleach and vinegar would i mix for a 5 gallon bucket if i let them soak?
Ill have to set up a greenhouse just to dry them out, with this crazy weather weve had :/

We did 1 gallon of bleach in a 20 gallon tote. Placed the rock in the tote and filled it the rest of the way with hose water. Put a power head in and let it run for 24 hours. The next day repeat only using vinegar instead of bleach. The third day was just straight hose water. We did this in three separate totes as we had a bunch of rock to do and just cycled them from one tote to the next each day. You could use RODI if you want but the drying process should eliminate any contaminates left behind by the hose water. And don't worry, it will color up very quickly.

Here is a pic of what it looked like when we started the tank in July of last year

GO PEST FREE to start with and you will never regret it. We did the battle with all the different pests on our first tank and I can tell you it was a major PITA.

That's what I'm saying, what they are telling you would cause you to cycle again I'd think? but they are the pros and offer a lot of great advice. They offer a permanent solution. That's 100% effective. I'd listen to them. The torching method may or may not work. As for me I haven't seen anything come back. I did it to save the coralline growth. But I also did what another member said. Which was to scrape the coralline off, And scrap the rock. That's about as fire proof as it gets.

Thanks guys, I have them in a 5g bucket in the dark with fresh/vinigar water. I will QT as well after this so I can seed and cook the rock.
