We lost power one night and it happend to be the night after I installed the chiller. I didnt put an anti siphon hole in the chiller return to the tank and when the power went out the chiller return drained half the tank. This all happened at 4 am and I was not 100% awake. I made some new saltwater but the salinity was not exact and I ended up loosing all my wild caught acros to RTN, all the aquaculture pieces survived. Maybe your move form one tank to the other caused the RTN due to changes in salinity

All the water (and live rock) in the temporary tank was from my display tank, so there wasn't any changing of water. I have a large sump, so the display tank never lost any volume in the mishap...all the water was pumped out of the sump. I now have little water alarms scattered all around the sump and behind the stand :).

Sorry to hear about your RTN episode. I'm glad to hear the aquacultured pieces survived!
