New Pictures - It's Playa's Fault!

Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Well I tried to edit it for you a little Playa, but that site won't let use do a link directly to his tank. They are just not cool like that. Beautiful shot Chuck! I will try to find a way to get it up here.

After it got hit a couple times, they cut us off. They have protection for their server, to help it from getting unnecessarily overloaded.

Oh boy, coming up with some of the good ole days pictures :) Cool !!! Thanks

Yah, I don't think Reef Central likes us too much. I have heard a number of stories about removing signatures and stuff that link back to Reef Frontiers :(

Thanx a lot Tom. That is one of my all time favorites of any reef picture ever taken.

One day I will start a thread on pictures of any ultimate reef shots. Shots that include a group of corals. It would be good candy to the eye, which I am a sucker for it.:)

Luis

Chuck please post more of the old pictures that you have in your PC

Man Chuck that is a great shot of the old tank. It should give you good motivation to surpass it.

Luis get off your butt and start that thread up!!!!!!!!! lol

Mike

Chuck what did you do to the bottom to simulate sand? It sure looks like sand, I could handle that:)

Luis

Thanks guys ...

Luis ... I have a spattering of crushed coral on the bottom. Not a lot at all. You can mostly see the glass of the tank down there :) I was originally going to put about 1/4" for show, but right after I started, I decided not to go any further and keep it out.

MikeS ... the working theory is that my sandbed saturated and leached out some nasty stuff into the tank that pretty much crippled it. Hard to recover from that when the sandbed is saturated.

A few more from tonight ...

Bummer....that must have really sucked! how old was your sand bed? Was the crash sudden, or a gradual worsening of the tank health?

MikeS

I'm losing my mind because I swear Chuck just posted that, but I can't find it. MikeS, here is a thread on his sandbed removal:

Sandbed Removal Complete

OK - I'm still pulling my hair out trying to find the post. If I remember correctly, about an 80% loss, and I think it was gradual. Chuck, please correct me.

Chuck

Looking great, it'll surpass the former tank. heh, heh, I'll be up for some frags - worth the drive up from Portland to see the tank.
