I just finished hanging my new radions last week. I set them up to run in the high growth program at 65% intensity. I made a couple changes to the program but noting drastic, such as how quickly the ramp up to full power and how long they stay there.

I was wondering if anyone had a program to share or some insight to how hard these things run. For instance is 65% too much? the corals were under nova a-4's running at 34/44 %. Everything looks a little happier since the change, bigger polyp extension, better color ect, but it's only been a week so time will tell.

I also have a 16" rail kit to hang the lights bu found a simpler way so if anyone is interested in a trade for it let me know.

I don't know how the 2 different lights compare to each other in terms of power output, but just to be cautious, I would have started out a little lower and use the acclimation mode in ESL.

Well, I did start slower, I just didn't state it, sorry for the confusion.

The current setting matches the par meters I obtained when I borrowed OBD's par meter and as I stated the corals look better then before so yea!!!

What I'm interested in is how people have programed theirs and how long, intensity ect...

Thanks for the input though, nice to see I wasn't completely ignored... lol...

On both my tanks, I am using a slightly modified High Growth program.
I start out around 9:30 in the morning when the blues come on and stay at about 10% for a hour and then start ramping up to 65% ( 20K ) at 12. I created a extra point on my graph at 2pm so the lights go to a 14k color. Then they start going back to a 20k color at the last high point around 4pm and then start ramping down until they shut off at 8:15.
My 233 is a mixed softy/lps with a max intensity of 65% with gen 1's.
My 50 is a mixed lps/sps with a max intensity of 70% with a upgraded gen 3 with wide angle lens.

Thanks mfin. That's pretty much what I was looking for. I'm running something very similar to your 50 gal setup and the corals seem pretty happy. I miss spoke as I'm running at 60%, not 65 and my goal was around 70% but have no intentions of raising to that for another week or two. My lights are about 8-9" above the water and I'm using the regular lens as the coverage is more then adequate.

My current schedule starts at 7:30 and runs for an hour at the 20k spectrum, from 8:30 to 10:30 it changes to 18k and from 10:30 to 6pm its at 16k, maxing out at 60%. Finally I ramp down from 6 to 7 at 18k and from 7 to 8 at 20k again.

I'm going to increase the intensity to 65% Friday and then consider 70% in another week if they tolerate it and look like they want more.

I'll try to post a screen shot if anyone is interested. Thanks again.

If you haven't tried the acclimation program, this might be a good chance to try it.

Set the starting intensity at the current 60% and ending intensity at 70% and give it a 2 or 3 week duration and let the program bump up the intensity a little each day.

Would love to see pictures. :)

See, this is why I love this place. I never thought of using the acclimation mode and quite honestly didn't understand that it worked like that. I'll program them before I go to bed today. Thanks again.

I'll get some pictures today or tomorrow. I just started over, had a fight with red bugs and lost everything, so the pretties are a bit small but they look pretty healthy.

Thanks again.

Okay guys, here is a few from today...

Like I said, loving the new lights. Not that the Nova A-4's were bad, just did not get the coverage I wanted with a hood.

I'm gonna sell them if anyone is interested.

I'm not being critical at all when I suggest this.
Have you ever tried to host your pictures on Imageshack or one of the others?
When you do that, then you can post pictures with out them being links.

Never thought of that. I'll do it next time. Thanks for the tip.

Nice pictures! How did you get rid of red bug?

I used interceptor for 8 weeks and dipped in bayer. Took forever and my skimmer was not working properly during the process so scum build up was amazing. My live stock was fine except the shrimp and crabs all died.

I finally gave up and fraged what I could and broke my system down, cleaned everything and started over with new rock and sand. I also had a ferocious outbreak of bubble algae so the breakdown got rid of that too. I wish I could have saved my SPS but at least the LPS was good.

I believe there is a thread about it here. I got most of my information from multiple sites and sources. Good luck if you have them, they are a royal pain.

When you broke everything down, did you nuke your rock or start with new rock to get rid of the bubble algae?
Did you do anything with the coral that you saved, besides inspect it for bubble algae?

I replaced everything with new stuff, well everything I could including my bulkhead, plumbing, return pump and thermometer.

With the old rock i just threw it in a 55 gallon garbage can and filled it with water. After a couple weeks I pressure washed the heck out of it and let it dry for a month before giving it to a friend. Looked cleaner then when I bought it.

I just removed my acans and zoas from their rocks and glued them to new ones, not because of bugs but to stop algae... Or at least I hope I did.
