Reposting since I had a date problem on the server (growing pains I guess)

Okay, that was an interesting experience. Let's see if the domain is propagating throughout the internet world. I think we are back up and running.

We are behind a firewall, so a bit more secure.

I hope we are on a faster machine too. We shall see.

Have fun to those that make it back :)

I know this has been really tough on you. If it is any consolation, it has been really tough on us as well.
Thanks for going through the pain to make Reef Frontiers better for us!

I wasn't able to get on until 10:06PM my time, looks like it took about 1 hour & 20 minutes to get this far south:D

Thank you Chuck for the work you do and this great service you provide us with on this site! I am hitting the 4 year mark on my tanks and i still consider myself as learning Aquariust.
This site has been one of my best teaching sites i have ever been to Thank you again..

Jeff,

I've been in the hobby for over 10yrs and I still learn something everyday. This is the great thing about this hobby, you always learn something.

I have to admit, we are having issues with the configuration of the server and the new server company is trying to fix them, but if not, I may have to rethink and go through this all over again :(

Time will tell.

Yeah ... some key issues:

1. Firewall preventing me to use external SMTP mail services
2. Sometimes incoming email is not connecting to server
3. Many many many messages are awaiting delivery in mail queue. ALL are comcast.net addresses
4. Have received returns from earthlink for denial of our server to receive mail.

Small issues :)

should be fine when they open port 25
2. Sometimes incoming email is not connecting to server
Could be issues with your MX records propagating (72 hours)
3. Many many many messages are awaiting delivery in mail queue. ALL are comcast.net addresses
Could be related to comcast.net having the old MX address
4. Have received returns from earthlink for denial of our server to receive mail.
This could be related to MX things also, make sure your IPs/MX reverse dns matches, or else a lot of servers wont allow mail to come in/send to your server:
10 mail.reeffrontiers.com 216.75.53.36 86400
when I resolve 216.75.53.36 it comes back to reeffrontiers.com, not mail.*
If I look up an MX for mail.* there is none.

Small issues :)

take a look at my responses in-line above

Just FYI... I run my own domain also, with my email going through it. Last weekend I had a comcast.net email bounce back - first time ever. The message more or less told me my IP address (shared hosting, not dedicated IP) was on one of their spam lists. The funny thing is that other comcast.net emails went through OK and it seemed to be an isolated incident. My take of it was that Comcast was buggering something up on their end without really knowing it. (As usual.) Just thought I'd pass that on since you mentioned your email issue seemed to be with comcast address.

We appreciate all the time you have put in to getting this site back up and running!

Still trying to figure this one out. We currently have around 113 emails in the queue to comcast.net email users. Sorry about that you comcast folks. Maybe after everything re-propagates through a different nameserver things it will help? The weekend will tell :)

Network Disruption - 3/18/08

Network issue at the data center:

Today the issue that we had last Thursday was able to re-manifest itself and again it was propagated to both primary and redundant routing legs within our network

Just thought I would let you know what I was told about tonight's outage. Still not extremely stable, of course I am griping a bit about it too.
