Hey all,

I had my foxface get murdered by my closed loop intake the other day. I wasn't attatched to him yet so it didn't cut me deep or anything like that, although I really hated to see him go and felt pretty bad for a while. So today i went on the search for a new boss of the tank. I found this PBT up in Silverdale at the SharkReef. It had been there for a month and is fat and happy as could be so I bought it. It seems like its favorite new hangout is right next to the closed loop intake  Hopefully it will figure out soon that is not the place to be.

Also here is some pix of the tank. I got a full tank shot with the flash on first. Then some shots of recent aquasitions. I got this purple acro from Dang, as well as this red milli. The camera really just dosn't pick up the red but it is a beauty. I also have some recent frags from Paul Hamby and a few from Upscales. The frag rack is getting full again which is a good feeling. In the last pic is my green slimer which was the last coral to RTN in my big tank disaster. It is starting to come back nicely. In that second to last pic the larger coral in the middle is a a purple tip acro some call Nana. It is starting to color back up nicely and it will be going up for sale soon if anyone wants it.

Cool pics Tom...I've always liked your tank. A friend of mine who owns the LFS here in the Bahamas has a Powder Blue Tang in his tank also, which he wants to give me since I have more swimming area in my 90 as he only has a 30 gal. They are decent fish to watch. I love tangs because they are very active. He feeds his a sheet of nori (which is basically the seaweed wrap they use in sushi) a day and the PBT goes crazy with that stuff...Him and his little yellow tang buddy. I haven't decided if I'll take him off his hands yet because I don't think I'm prepared to throw anything other than formula 1 or 2 in my tank just yet. Whatever goes in will be my first fish since I started up the tank again 8 weeks ago. I'll see how it goes. Thanks for sharing the pics...I'm always game when it comes to pics!

That looks like a very healthy PBT indeed Tom! Your rack really is getting full again! I enjoyed and learned from your construction phase of this tank. Thanks!

Joey

Oh man - we're going to have a PBT club :D. I thought I saw a glimpse of it in the picture you posted of your skimmer foam :). That is going to be the last fish I introduce to my tank. I'm already starting to hunt for one. Tom - is that a Tomini Tang I saw in one of the pics? How are the PBT and Tomini getting along? Things are looking really good!

Hey Tom, things are really starting to take shape again, congrats!!!! I really think the PBT is nice, wish I had room. Has he bothered anybody yet, or is he being kind of shy?
Keep up the good work man! :D

Nice Tom! I really like the PBT. Wish I had the room for one. Looks like it is getting close to time for you to start picking the corals you want to keep and letting them grow out. The boring part of the fun....but still fun.

The PBT has always been my favorite tang. I did try one about 6 or 8 months ago, unfortunately it only lasted a week before it went belly up. That one had only been at the shop for about a week. It was eating like a pig and got along well with the tank mates, but one on like day 6 it was breathing heavily and was dead about 3 hours after I noticed that. No ick or anything just gone. This one I got from a different source. It is super fat and was also eating like a pig. This PBT had been up at the SharksReef for over a month. I am hoping that it will stand a better chance, I will do my best.

The tank looks kinda white because all my nusance algea is receading faster then the corraline can spread, I think that it will be looking real nice in about 2 months or so.

Reed - it is funny that you should say that about needing to pick the corals that I like and let them grow. That won't be the case for me. I am going to be adding another tank to my basement system shortly. It will be a 72x30x14H. I really want to have a good place to grow out frags and stuff like that. I will also be able to add a couple more nice fish.

That thing is a real beauty Tom, great find! The tank is looking really good, can't wait to see it this weekend ;).

Well I did acclimate it for a couple hours to match salinity and temp. I don't quaranteen fish, in fact I really don't know many poeple that do. I have had fairly good results with this method and have never had problems with exhisting fish. Over the years I have only had 2 fish that didn't make it with this method.

Sounds nice Tom. Does that mean I will have a new source for corals?

I love good customer care ;)....glad to see it looks like you have turned the corner and are on the upswing again.

That sounds like a great prop-style tank. Let me know when it's up and running and I'll donate some SPS, and zoos if you want them. You can be my SPS insurance policy :)
