It's been a while since I set up a new tank... all new water (125 gal) 77degrees, 1.020 specific gravity, nothing in the tank...

My ph read 7.8.... am I good to add live rock and sand?

Thanks...

Shamu

Did you let the water aerate with a powerhead or anything? I would also bump your salinity up to 1.026 (35 ppt).

thanks, I did not aerate... and I am awaiting a new pump for the skimmer... I'm guessing that once I get that running it should provide enough oxygen to bump the ph.

I will bump the salinity...

with that, am I good to add live sand/ rock this weekend?

again, thanks

Shamu
ps. nice pics of your tank!

You can add the sand and rock anytime you want. No matter what, your going to have to let your tank cycle though, which takes time and patience...lots of patience! No matter how live or cured they say the sand/rock is, it's still going to throw your tank into a cycle. If you have any questions just ask or use the search on the site (it's a great search for previous asked questions). And welcome to RF!!!!

If there is nothing in the tank its co2 or testing error. Go ahead and add your rock and let it cycle.
