Welcome to Reef Frontiers!!

Do you think you will want to keep any other corals (future plans) than zoanthids in this tank? Were you going to have any fish or invertebrates in this tank? How long has your tank been cycling?

A zoo tank would be a great way to start in the reef hobby. They come in a variety of colors, are fairly hardy, and aren't very agressive toward other corals should you want to add more later.

Nikki brings up good question. What fish, shrimp, snails, etc. do you plan to keep in the tank...if any. You don't really need them, but most people want something that moves in the tank.

I think you have a great setup there. You are covering all of the important pieces of equipment. Other thing you may need to consider in Arizona is tank temperature. How do you plan to keep the tank cool. If the house is air conditioned that may work fine. Otherwise, the smaller the tank the more you need to be aware of temperature fluctuations. Actual temperature is less important than the temperature swings throughout the day. Just something to think about.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME!

Also need to consider that a 30 gallon tank will fill up very fast, so you need to plan ahead.

well i say thanks for all the advice but i live in arkansas and my wife said if i keep this tank looking good for 1 year i can buy what ever i want so lets just say i may take a wall or two out to build my own mega reef lol

Sounds like a great plan for first starting. Zoo's are pretty hardy and thier some very attractive types out thier. Welcome to RF and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Mike

1 year is a good test trial. Here you will know if you can keep up with it.... It is a very demanding hobby. You will know if its good or call it quits... :p

Very good plan I think.... I say go for it.
