Hey guys. my name is rich, I have been in the hobby for 5 years now, I have a 210g sps dominated tank. I have recently switched to leds from 3x400w mh lighting, fingers crossed. any pointers you guys can give me to grow my sps would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Welcome to RF!! :welcome:!! Pics please!!! :D On the SPS's, we have a forum here dedicated to them so check it out. Kevin heads it up!! :)

Generally speaking it is quite a change to go from MH to LEDs but patience as always is the key. First the spectrum will be different but hopefully you and the SPS will get used to it. Skipping all the wonderful efficiencies gained that I found after the switch to LEDs, I would say a few corals like them better and some corals maybe not so much. Granted I set up a whole new tank, so there could be other factors in my case. I am still moving them around a bit but it depends on your specific lights. 3 400w MH is a lot to replace. What is your LED setup?

Hi guys.
I went from 3 X 400 MH 14000K with 4 X 96W PC to pacific sun Deimos unit with 3 X 160W Cree 3W XRE LED with 2 X 80W dimmable T5 HO, this was a recent purchase so I can not state if any changes has applied. But I will be taking some detailed photos of the fixtures and post them on this and a fee other sites so we can see what the difference is between these fixture and all the others. On my home forum which is canreef, there are few of us who are running the Vetex 260, Reeftech prometheus and me with the PacSun that are willing to post pictures and discuss the pros and cons of our fixtures to help our reefing community have a better understanding on these fixture. More important to justify the huge initial cost for them to our beloved wives or husbands.
Mark I am curious on what type of led lighting are you using and what kind of coral as you mentioned above were more suited and which ones weren't. I have always been a firm beliver when it come to advancement of technology, if I can convince people with facts that led lighting is the wave the future, then that's what I will do.

Regards
Rich

IMHO I would keep the MH incase and run the LEDs (under close watch) to see if your changes are a plus or not. Oh :focus:and for sure Welcome To RF:cheer2:
