We have a hex which houses a Niger trigger, fox face and dragon wrasse. They've lived together well for probably around a year now.. At feeding time the other night, our Niger (who is the biggest beggar in the tank) didn't show. And he's NOWHERE to be found. He appeared to be healthy and we haven't had any problems. Water quality is good. Stumped on what might have happened but better yet... where the hell did he go?

Only thought is the dragon wrasse buried him in the sand.. anyone else ever experience this?

I miss him.

When my niger was small he would hide in rocks but for him to just go missing, that's odd. stir up the sand bed and lift up rocks. Try looking around on the floor's or pumps. It sucks when they just go missing, I always want to know where to dead or alive so you can prevent it in the future.

Oh. I had a christmas wrasse that vanished on me also. My tank is drilled on the bottom, i found it between the wall and the stand. My tank is 6' wide and was only an inch from the wall. Didnt find him till i moved.

I found a few of my fresh water fish on the floor when I moved furniture. The hex is completely closed tight with just an overflow at the top. I figure after 3-4 days there probably not much left of him. Anyone looking to rehome a Niger? ;)

That's a pretty good sized fish to up and disappear, though I've gotta say that saltwater setups are pretty good about disguising fish for periods of time... in the case of the trigger though I would suspect jumping or death + CUC feast.
