I have been noticing this only when i feed flesh food like silversides or scallops but it is a loud click and i was wondering what is it caused by? Do all triggers make this sound? Does it get louder as they get bigger?

Triggers usually make grunting sounds but clicks wouldn't be too unusual. Do you have any large angels or paired anemonefish? They are much more likely to make clicking noises.

Okay thanks guys. And yeah i was right about the bigger they are the louder the clicking. I fed my big guy yesterday and man was it louder compared to my niger which is only 1/3 his size.

yeah.. last time i went diving in the carribean, I heard that clicking/grinding too.. I was looking all around to find out what was making it and found a big old trigger chomping on the tips of some coral.. Couldn't beleive it was that loud to spark my attention from 10 feet away under water, but yep.. it can be loud..

---big set of chompers on that guy
