Hey when I click on the "new posts" link at the top of the page I get redirected to a page that says no matches. Any ideas?
Thanks, Scott

I just noticed the problem this morning. I can't access any new posts.

Also I have noticed that all posts in a thread are not showing up. The thread might say 15 replys, but when I click on it only 1 or 2 come up.
Very strange.

What browser do you use?

It may be loading off of a cache or you may have it set to only load from cache. (it happens)

Hmm thats weird, we get well over 200 new posts a day. As gehidore says we dont let the new posts out thier for more then an hour, maybe we should change that, I will talk to Chuck about that.
Scott on the posts not showin up that does sound like a cache problem, maybe time to clear your cookies and memory.

New posts are shown based on your last visit. Your visit gets timed out after an hour. So if you come back 12 hours later, you should see the last 12 hours worth of new posts. If you log out, then log back in right away, your new posts will show up as none as your last visit was just a minute prior or so ...

Still having problems Scott? Seems to be working fine on my end. Maybe your cookies are messed up. Log off first, then try going here:

http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/mycookies.php

Delete all fo the cookies that show up and then close your browsers. Open up and log back on and see if it works better for you.

Unless you clicked on "Mark Forums Read". What exactly does that do, Chuck? I thought it marks the forums to be no new posts/all forums read. Could this be the problem?

I noticed an option that related to the time of newposts being new in User CP ...

As for the relation to our logins, I am technically on 24/7 so I am constantly finding 1 or 3 "new posts", after I changed my options it keeps the last 12 hours worth of "new posts".

Well I am still having probs with the viewing new posts. I cleared cookies out but that didn't help. Still get the same v bullitin message. (Sorry no matches. Please try some different terms.)

I have run my virus software and also did a system restore to about a week ago when there was no problem. Any more ideas?

If you are running Microsoft Windows it is time to do a clean install to fix your problems, the registry is most likely messed up beyond repair. Depending on what a person does with there computer the rate at which Windows self destructs can very from a few weeks to years but it just doesn't make it long term most of the time.

If you are a good little Windows user and have microsoft repair console installed (and don't run as freaking administrator) the registry is never unfixable.

Hey Chuck,

The link to the last 24 hr of posts works for me. The link at the top of the page is still not working though. My browser is msn explorer.....The one with the darn butterfly you know.
I also use internet explorer once in a while.
Hey Waterdogs and Gehidore. The clean install is beyond my puter skills. Got any pointers or am I really going to creat a pc mess?
Scott

hey Scott,

I don't think it's a registry issue so don't worry. If that link worked for you then it's something else. Let Chuck work with you and he'll get it fixed.

Just don't go tinkering with your registry and all that stuff.

Chuck - did you see my question? I've often wondered what the mark forums read means.

Yes if you hit the mark forums read link, it will clear everything out including new posts.

I have never tried the MSN explorer ... it is definately a different browser than IE or the others. Have you tried hitting that link with IE? And not the MSN explorer? Maybe the MSN explorer isn't recognizing the last activity/last visit information?

I am at a loss here Scott ... The only thing I can tell you is that it isn't recognizing cookies with respect to last visit/last activity. You could try clearing out all of your cookies manually and see how it reacts? All seems to be good on this end from what I can tell.

I even just logged onto an account of mine that I use for test purposes, I don't use it too much. I just tried the feature and it brought up 487 posts that were new ... so it definately is working.

As Nikki suggested, it will definately clear if you log off manually or mark all as read manually.

awww Chuck you give up too easy :)

Have you changed your Security settings in IE? changed anything or updated your Virus scanner? something is interferring with the writing/updating of the cookie for Reef Frontiers.

Clear your cookies, Exit out of IE/MSN if you are in it, reboot
Also, make sure your Privacy settings in Tools / Options / Privacy has not been pushed up all the way to the top. I'd set it to Medium or below. If it comes down to it you can add reeffrontiers.com to the Sites option under Privacy and set it to Always Allow.

Hopefully it's one of these.....
