I just noticed something strange in my tank. I scraped off all the coraline on the back glass, and now 3 of my fish are pissed off at their own reflections. My male Anthias will chase his up and down the tank, My Starry Blenny will try and bite his while he displays aggressive colors (turns white), and even my Male Mandarin (I suppliment pods, don't worry) will poke at his pretty rapidly.

Right now theres one of those petco black backgrounds on it. It has a bit of a reflective property to it, but not much.

Any solutions or ways to have a background that isn't so shiny? The tank is 4" away from a wall, so I don't think I could paint it with spray paint. Maybe Roll it on?

I'd bet they are seeing the reflection in the glass and not the background at all. I guess you should be a little more sadistic and rather than feel sorry for them, take humor in it. You'll sleep better tonight.

LOL, I think you're right, I took it off and they still attack it, but not as much. You're right, it is pretty funny to watch. I'm just worried about the Blenny, since they usually have suicidal tendancies...

Black plastic gutter guard makes an awesome fish fence for open top tanks.
I had three suicides from non-typical jumpers before I created the "great wall"
