Hello all! This is my first post on RF, I have posted on other sites but most of them just dont want to comment or help out a newbie, I have been reading in here for a while and RF seems to have no problems with that. I currently have a 24G Aquapod that has been running for about 6 weeks now. I do not have all of my LR in yet, mostly just hitchikers and a small CUC cause the algae was gettin badreal bad. I will post pics some time or another. It will be soon though. Great to meet everyone and cant wait to grow in the Reef Frontiers community.

The Blenny was actually a hitchiker, he came on a peice of LR from a LFS. I didnt really want it but the wife wanted to keep it so....here we are today with it.

I have 15#'s of LR coming next week. Wont be the prettiest of the rock it is Caribbean, but I like the look of it and its a little cheaper than most. I plan to use it more of a base rock.Thanks,

Wow I can't beleive you got a fish hitchiker. I've never seen that before. You got lucky too, they like to eat algae.

If your algae is still a problem, look into Mexican Turbo Snails. I've never seen algae dissapear as fast as it did in my tank when I got some. Go for 1 turbo snail/gallon. (3 in your case)

You running the Aquapod with the skimmer? To help you get through the cycle your in, I would do water changes and skim. BTW welcome to RF.

Yeah, one peice of LR had a nice sized cave going on in it and when we went to stick the rock in the QT it jumped out at us.

Yeah, I kinda bought a crapy skimmer for it, gonna do something bout it later on. I have been doing 2-3 gallon water changes a week. But I do have one question, you change out with saltwater but you top off with freshwater?


The algae looks alot better now with just what I got in there right now. I have 4 Electric Blue hermits coming in they are on back order. I think once I put the rest of the LR and those other hermits it will be under control.

In about a month and a half I will be expecting my first little girl so I cant really afford much right now. But I will get some sort of coral going on later on. Gonna be months though. Prolly better for to wait anyways.

Yes, make sure you are topping off with freshwater, otherwise your salinity will go up way too high.

Nice rock layout! The algae will subside as the tank matures. Be sure to use ro/di water as most tap water will contain phosphates, nitrates etc that will just fuel the algae to grow. Keep us updated on things

LOL! I know what you mean. I remember getting a box of rock that almost made me commit suicide because they were just the worse shapes and I couldn't do anything with it! I've spent up to 8 hours before just trying to get the rocks situated right
