Ok I bought a watchman goby as one of my first fish months ago and ever since I have been wanting a Pistol Shrimp. I very rarely see them at any lfs so I have asked my nearest store to order me one for a few months (have to keep reminding him lol no biggy). He finally called me today and said he had one in for me and I rushed over after work to pick him up. I brought him straight home acclimated him for about 4 hours and finally set him free. So far he is just kinda hanging out on the bottom not really doing anything no big deal. Well I was doing some searching and found out that I think he is a Bullseye Pistol and they don't normally form a symbiotic relationship in fact one website just said they won't :(. I have been waiting so long for one I'm just really kinda frustrated over this. So I quickly snatched him up and put him in my fuge as I'm sure you can't have two different kinds of Pistol Shrimp in the same tank.

I already have two clowns and an anemone that they won't host so I was disappointed over that too lol.

Sorry for the rant ;)

Crummy!! Maybe order a specific one online??
Oh, and funny thing, our clowns host on mushrooms, frogspawn, a hairy mushroom, and our clam. Goofy things! Give em time, they'll probably start to host when they are more "pair-y" and thinking of mating and whatnot.
Good luck in your livestock trials!

Personally I'd scoop him up and fry him. I hate my pistol shrimp he buries my live rock and steals all my frags and makes sure the water is never clear. Make sure you know what you are getting into :) in a large tank I'm sure their destructiveness isn't quite so noticeable.

Don't worry I'm use to my stupid snails knocking over all my zoa's off the rocks way down in the middle forcing me to re aqua scape just to find them lol. I now have to keep all my zoa's on one rock in the front so they are easy to pick back up.

Yea I might have to order one, I'll see if A red sea aquarium still has one in stock it was already paired with a goby digging away. I would have bought him then but I just wasn't ready yet.

My two clowns are pretty good buddies they are never apart but I don't think they have figured out which one will turn into the female yet, they are both equally aggressive to each other.

red sea usually has had one or two everytime i've been there if not he is really good with special orders

If I remember right I had 4 pistol shrimp in my 75 gallon tank when I broke it down. I think 3 tigers and 1 red stripe. As far as I know only one of them had a relationship with a shrimp, unless they were good at sharing. So I think you would be ok with a couple of pistol shrimp in the tank depending on size.

Yea I was doing some more reading and people seem to say that the bullseye's are more active then other pistol shrimp, so I may keep him and get another one. My tank is a 90 gallon with 130lbs of live rock so I think they would be ok.

Have you ever tried the picture method for your clowns and anemone. I was skeptical at first but after 2 weeks my clown started hosting the anemone. You have to find a pic of a similar looking clown hosting a similar looking anemone and place it where they can see it and near the anemone. Since they are still both dominating, only one will host it first.

As for your watchman goby (assuming its a yellow), you should get a tiger pistol shrimp. Those two will hook up and be like Ebony and Ivory living in perfect harmony.

do yourself a favor. let it die ! lol i had one for about a year and hated it haha. all you hear all night long is snap.. snap.. snap.. annoyin little bastards. ok it was still pretty cool ;) hope it gets better. Mine did eventually pair up with the watchman. just takes time. they wont immediatly get along. it was a tiger pistol.

I did try the picture method lol didn't work for me and they were similar and next to the anemone oh well.

He is a yellow watchman goby so I will look for a tiger pistol.
