NY Times aquarium article

The August 18th NY Times Home and Garden section has an article on designer aquariums that is an interesting read with aquariums costing >$100,000 to set up. cool article. to bad a lot of these folks just like the eye candy and don't actually know much about what they have.

Yes,do the aquariums generate wonder and appreciation for the reef ecosystem or is it just eye candy.It seems that maintaining your own tank is the real lesson in understanding all the interrelations of the ecosystem.

I hope the folks that have the tank with the fish and diatoms all over the sand didn't spend 100G's. That suspended tank is impressive and it would be cool to see their system and the guy with the 150G reef had a decent tank but the rest...mehhhh. I guess 6 fiigures just doesn't buy much of an aquarium.

I noticed all that cyano on the sand too in addition to the ZERO rockwork/hiding places for the fish.

When you have someone else build, design and maintain it..........100k can go pretty quick.
