My Tang is growing by leaps and bounds! Oh my goodness. And he/she has turned a dark lemon yellow AND is bossing the other fish around! Did I mention her/his fins? GEORGEOUS! I think in a 55 gal. this is going be a challenge!
When I got him/her this fish was the size of my dwarf coral angel NOT ANY MORE!

If ya get a baby Tang arange a home for it, K?

Great post. Some people don't relize that these 3" fish get >8" and are quite beefy and love to swim. Thats why most say not to put a tang in anything less than a six foot tank.

I am torn....I love my tang. I will not take him/her to a fish store. I will take pictures soon which won't be hard because Tang is not camera shy.
I think one of the the things that amazes me is the amount of poop these animals can produce.
I don't think there is a huge market for mature yellow tangs.
I will think and take the best care I can.

old pic. about 4 months ago. HUGE change since then.

My antennata lionfish will outgrow my 50 gallon within a year. I was planning on getting a bigger tank to accomodate, but I can fix my problem by giving him away without having to make any other adjustments. I'm not looking forward to letting him go either, but he will be happier in a 100+ gallon tank. In a couple of years I'll have a larger tank, then I'll consider another lion.

Why don't you get a bigger tank then? Seems the only good option if you plan to keep him.

The yellow tang is definitely very nice striking and very active really nice in groups when they have room to swim in a bigger tank and it cuts down on their aggressive squabling.
