Hey guys,
I will be setting up my new 180 in about 2 weeks now and wondering if i should stick with IO or try out this oceanic. It is hard to tell, i want more longterm results from people... but has anyone had any immediate bad results switching over from IO to oceanic, like that who fiasco a while ago with Rons salt?

Housing sps, and dont want to harm them. I like the higher mg and CA of the oceanic tests...

So you guys with experience with it, let me know how long youve been using it, and how you are going about switching from IO to oceanic. I will just be filling my tank with the oceanic completely, but curious to see if there is any effects from you guys switching with water changes.
Thanks

If you dont get a response I know of two guys who would know Brett Perry & Rod B. at a splash of life. (asplashoflife.com) Just go to there site and drop them a line if no one gets back to ya.

so far i haven't had a single issue with it. i've been using it about 3 weeks so i can't give you any long term results.

i've been doing 5% water changes every few days the past few weeks to change over from IO to Oceanic. My tank definitely looks a ton better. My corals and zoo's look more vibrant and extended than they used to be. I've also noticed coralline algae growing better on the backwalls and powerheads than it did.

also the biggest plus is my alk and calc levels are much more stable than they've ever been. with IO I had a ton of problems getting my levels stable.

I also like how quickly it mixes up and is ready to use and without all the residue I had with IO.

so I give it a thumbs up. you can also ask "big t" as i picked up a 200 gallon tub of it for him. haven't heard his results yet.

i've been using it about a month.. gal a day water changes.. test's better and mixes better then any other salt i've tried.. hope it stays that way.. i plan on sticking with it

I stopped using it. Not for sure if it was the salt or something else but on the third week I noticed some of the corals looking sluggish.
Since I stopped and replaced with IO (15 gallon change) the corals are looking better.
I may try again on down the line but for right now I will wait till my corals are all the way back to normal.

Anyone have any phosphate readings? If so, how did it test?

Scooter,
It's all what the brand name wants in the salt.
When milk plant makes the milk they are all different and made to specs that the brand name company wishes.
Who knows maybe Oceanic will taper down the mix after awhile.
Get all the reading now and we will see later on what they have changed.

I would like to see a full report on this product, I know they make these salts to their specs. this way I can do a comparison to decide for myself if I should make a try, so far I've heard only a few negative reports.
