hello everyone.
i have a problem with my yellow tang AGAIN  .
Well he was eating good or should i say alot hehe, until today in the morning.
The boy has ich, i looked for some cure and i found that you can dip them in freshwater or that you can buy cleaner shrimps and they would eat the ich.
Now my questions i guess would be, how do i deep my fish in the fresh water? do i add any quemicals to the water? can i use any type of water ( i mean like tap water or from a filter) ? sorry if that was a dumb question, or if i buy the cleaner shrimps would they get eaten or killed by my fire shrimp and my emerald crab?
Thank you everyone

Please be very very fast doing this. Ick is the devil. Get that fish out of your tank and into a quar tank. Read up about ich. Do a search on it. The swimmers that the parisite drops are the most evil things in the fish world. I hate ich. I hope very much your other fish do not have it. I am sorry to tell you doom and gloom, but it is the truth. Each little pimple you see, will drop off and be thousands of baby parisites looking for a host. Please be quick. HTH Steve

I don't know if I agree on trying to remove it at this point, the QT should of been done at the get go. I think the stress of catching it may be overwhelming I guess it would depend on how easy you could do that without chasing it all over the place, also you have ICK, it is in your tank most probably and there isn't much you can do if your tank is loaded with fish & coral etc. I did FW dips before, the idea here is to use tap water with the chlorine removed the minerals in the tap will wipe out the ICK temporary, you have to let the fish stay in the water about 2 minutes, this also is very stressful. If all of your water prams reading 0,0,0 you can try feeding garlic, I use some sorts of garlic to soak some seaweed or sorts, you can either buy garlic extreme or one of that kind or try garlic liquid gels on the seaweed & hope your fish will eat it. It will come down to a few things, how stressed is this fish, can he eat, is your tank prams in good shape, how is the temp. etc.

if you plan to catch it. do it at night.... all source of light out... this will make the fish sleep...

then do you move, make it very fast... while sleeping, they will not see the net coming.

just my two cents.

You can move it to a q tank and lower the salinity over a couple of days. Keep the lights off. Try catch him at night too. You can add vitamin C to the tank if it is very bad and add garlic to the food like mentioned. But also check out your set up becasue something stressed him out.

when I catch fish I never (if possible) remove the fish from the water.

The net is used to catch them then I transfer them into another container...(without bringing them out of the water)

thank you very much for your tips, but unfortunately last night he started swimming with only one fin, and then he kept standing right at the bottom of the tank, i tried taking him out and giving him the freshwater dip to see if i could save him, but it was to late, he didn't even try to swim away from the net and when i got him into the freshwater he was only breathing but not swimming at all :( , so my boyfriend said that it was to late and there was nothing to do.
Rest in peace bubbles :(

I have had good luck with a product from Marine Max. It is a disease preventing probiotic. you might look into it . I had the same problem with a tang when i first set my tank up and it took care of it and now i use it weekly

thank you i might have to look at that product because my damsel used to follow the tang everywhere they would even sleep close to each other, so i hope my damsel didn't get any ick, what's the name of the product? and also my fire shrimp used to clean the tang, should i worry about it?
