I have a Gen-X PCX40 1190 GPH External Water Pump and a gen-x 8500. I feel the gen-x 8500 kicks butt but i dont like the other. Just spun its wheels and never pumped a thing. The one closed loop was good but has leaks and now dont know about the other closed loop. My question is if the gen-x 85oo is at the return area in the sump, why does the water level not stay high enough to cover the pump. Im getting micro bubbles coming from the internal sprayers. SO my plan is to fix the leaks and tie all the closed loop together. Seems there is enough energy in the one pump for all. Marine depots policy is no returns after 3 days if no call before then. That does suck. :( Does anyone have this pump and have luck with it.

Wentfreegirl the reason the genx is not staying covered is that it is pumping out water faster then the water is draining into the sump. You should use the genx as the closed loop and the other pump as the return.
On the leaks did you remember to silicone the threads on the bulkheads??
