Hi,
I am wondering if there are enough people in the Oly area to have a periodic get together to buy/sell/trade frags? I have met a few people here who have spare cuttings and am hoping there are enough people to justify a periodic get together. I believe we could get the room at the Fish Bowl Pub, as long as the attendees are not more than 14 and we all buy a meal, the library is also an option. There is a lot of interest in a full scale club here but not enough people who actually would take the time to organize and run it, so am thinking of not running it as a club but more as a sporadic informal event.
Thanks,
Kate B

I'd definitely be interested in this. I'd kind of like to get together at someones house so we can see some of the local tanks. I'd be willing to host the first event if there's enough interest. I don't have the time to help run a club since I'm already on the PSAS board, but would like to get together and talk, trade, and sell.

Count me in. I was thinking about tearing down my 120 gal reef tank and concentrate on seahorses anyway. I have 3 tanks in a 1 BR apartment, a little overboard I think. Oh, and I don't need much excuse to show up at the Fishbowl for any reason......

Well, that is enough to get started. Anyone know anybody who might also be interested? What should we do, meet at Fish Bowl or at a home of one of us?

There are a couple of other people that I can contact. I'd be up for either the fishbowl or someone's house.

I am interested and am close. Where is fishbowl? I havn't hear of this one yet. The only one that I know of down there is Extreme Marine. I will be back in 2 months so I guess I am interested in get togethers in 2 months. I could also host a small get together.

I just stumbled upon this thread - I would come to a swap. I am in the Spanaway/Graham area, and everything is always in Seattle which is too far away for me.

Geoff - are you the person from the frag swap that I bought my frogspawn and green button polyps from? They are doing great and I love the frogspawn!

Beth.

Yes, those were mine. Glad to hear they are doing fine. I have decided to break down my 120g so I have more of the same available. Some nice big combo rocks as well.

Hello all-

I'd be interested in doing some frag trades as well. I have a ton of coral frags and am always interested in something I do not have.

I am located in Lake Oswego (Portland Burb), but can drive North...

It would be nice to post some names of corals for trade. I am a business, so I do not want to break RF posting rules here, but it sure would help.

PM me if interested....

frag swap Oly area in January?

Hi all,
Someone pointed out that maybe we should have this in a person's house so they can show off their tank and we can chat, this may be a good idea. Fish Bowl is a pub with a brackish tank, guess their maintenance guy tries to get them to go reef but they are happy with their large puffers and scats... They have a room that groups can use if everyone buys a plate of food or something.
I have been to Waves at the old location, they had the biggest clam I have ever seen in a fish tank...
So when are people up for meeting? I assume some of us will need to get through new years and recover from the holidays. Still haven't gotten back on track myself after being gone 5 days. Tank sitter put 3 oz of mysis in a tank with 5 fish so need to do a lot of water changes... The fish were happy and fat though.
I think some people don't have stuff to swap and others have lots so one thing to figure out is how to do it, when the main club does it do they auction, sell for cash, or what?
I don't want to make up a formal club and have to run it either so unless someone else does I would rather have us just be a small local gathering of Reef Frontiers members. No dues or lists or bank accounts. Suppose we could have a t shirt though. Wonder if a shirt mentioning the word frag would be taken as a vulgarity? I see a new vanity plate in my future: "Frag off" :)

Frag swap

Is this still going to happen...or did it already occur??? I'm looking for more corals. I even have a few frags available. Beth.

I don't think that it has happened yet, I will be and be ready for this type of thing by monday the 21st.

Well, who's on first? :)

Hi,
I am wondering how we should proceed, sounds like we have interested parties and I don't know if anyone really wants them but I have Monti digitata frags (beige but never tried under the best lights so may have better color) blu-ish purple mushrooms, green mushrooms, mottled mushrooms, kenya tree corals... not real rare stuff. Hope that is ok. Also have small as in 10 polyp starts of zoanthids and yellow polyps. Some rocks have more than one thing on them.
I would like to find more zoanthids, green or yellow leathers, and red sea xenia.
I bet other people on this list will have more exciting stuff but I am kind of just getting into this and hope to have far more later.
We can have a small meeting at my house or at Mud Bay Coffee up by the intersection of Cooper Pt and Black Lake Blvd or at anyone else's house who would like to host. My place is small so if a lot of people came it could be a pain. Anyone else want to go first?
Kate
