Okay so I drilled my 75 and on the last hole i got a little happy with the speed and got some nasty chip out. Just how bad can those chips be? I put three holes 4.25 in from the top and they start at 6in. in from the edge and then 12 and then 18 and it is the one closest to the center. (probably the worst spot) I plan on installing an internal over flow that will go coast to coast. Does any one think I will have a problem, I think that the over flow will give extra strength to the panel but i don't know.

I don't know too much about glass itself, but I'm thinking if it is just little chips and not actual hair line cracks that could potentially spread, you should be fine. Possibly even buffing the chipped spots smooth may help. Just a thought. If you have a picture, maybe posting it will help give us a better idea of what you are dealing with. :)

yea thanks for the reply. I have pics but i am an idiot when it comes to that i can't figure out how to post them. Sorry. How can i polish the chips? There is no cracks that i see but there is a hard edge that i am afraid of it turning into a crack. I will see if I can get the pics to my gallery.

krish75,

I got the images to my gallery if you would not mind please look there

Kinda ugly, sloppy work but if it is at the top no problem at all. It can be sanded out with sand paper as you won't see any discoloration because the bulkhead will cover it. Just make it smooth.

Yea the holes ( if you want call them that ) are at the top. I was wondering if I could drill bigger with a template to keep it from wondering. Does any one think this will be a problem?

there is a couple shots of it. Notice it is chipped top and bottom of the hole.

Maybe it's fine. Maybe it's not. Problem is, it'll be too late when you find out it's not.

IMHO It's too difficult to tell from those pics. Can you get a larger closer pic of the damaged (chip) area?

You should be fine. Chips look like the ones in mine after I drilled them. I had two out of ten holes I drilled that looked kinda like yours. Mine been working fine for over a year now. Use silacon on your bulkheads. Your bulkheads are the cheep ones or sch 80s ??. Fill the tank and let it sit for a few day you will see if it will work. Best of luck

yep, sched. 80 bulkheads and
silicone, silicone, sillycone

do you guys think he might benifit from putting rubber washers on both sides, or trying to cut out larger rubber washers from a sheet of rubber?
