OT - Pictures of the rocky California coast

Here are a few pics that I snapped when I wasn't at the Aquarium of the Pacific. The first two were taken at Point Dume state beach in Malibu. The sunset pics were taken at a random beach about 15 minutes north of Malibu. I was hoping to have the same clouds around for the sunset, but what can you do. Enjoy!

That's because they are only 800x600 pixels, your monitor will stretch the image to fit which will make it blurry. Which one do you want? I can make it larger for you. And Mike, what do you mean by star filter?

There are many different filters on can screw on a lens. One called a star filter breaks up a point of light into a star pattern. They are a lot of fun.

Hmm, I didn't even know about those. I didn't use a star filter...I always thought it was because of the aperture blades. I guess I learned something today

Yeah Blazer, your right. Aperture blades can cause "stars" at smaller f stops. the number of points on the star depends on the number of blades in the lens. I have used a star filter and its fun to use at night with bright points of light.

No problem Meche. The picture of the cliffs/rocks were actually made with small and low quality jpegs. These pictures were made with 5-6 merged images (HDR) and I normally shoot RAW+large jpeg but forget to change the settings when I took the first pics. So they aren't really as sharp or high quality as they could be, but I would have to reprocess them using the RAW files which would take a while. I'm glad you like them though.
