HI all, Anyone have pics of over flow box added on to glass tank inside or out side. Have a 125 gal frag/fish tankI am setting up. Would like some imput.
Thanks

Can't get you pics at this moment but on my 65 gal I ran internal all the way across the glass. I drilled for 2 1" bulkheads for drains then glued 2 pieces of glass, one 4" wide the other 5" wide onto the back pane of the tank. Most important to get it level. I cut a couple of boards for spacers up from the bottom of the tank to keep the glass piece level with the bottom of the top trim of the tank. Going all the way across the tank with the overflow you just get a super thin sheet of water across the overflow with no fear of fish going over. Snails will make it though. I do have pics on RC in my gallery. I also foamed the back of the tank under the overflow with black Handi-Foam.

I know josh just did it for his new 50 gallon. He just siliconed a plexi overflow box in that went to the top of the water line on the inside of his glass tank he just fired it 2 days ago so I dont have any pics yet but it all seemed to work fine just had the glass tank drilled for the overflow high in the back of the tankbehind the plexi box and used pvc 90s for the drain

WA, That's kinda what I am looking for. I have two over flow s that hang on back of tank. Would like more flow.

Krish 75 how much flow do you get. Tank is 125gal. What kinda pump is that

I had the CS100 that was good for 800 gph, but they have them that can handle up to 1600 gph so it all depends on how much flow you need it to support. As for the pump on top, that is an aqualifter that helps the overflow to keep its siphon. :)

Thanks

Krish,Thanks here is what I am doing. Setting up frag tank
Two sumps gravity and one on pump
3 400 watt/lumanarks xm20s.
etc
etc

Here are a couple of pics of my 65 gallon tank that I drilled and installed a glass overflow box across the length of the tank and then foamed the back wall below the overflow. If I had it to do again I might have foamed the oflow also. I am running this system on a Sedra 9000 pump with 2 1" bulkheads and I am very happy with the results.

Looks like a great setup and idea!! Good luck!:)

Nice looking tank "LCATTIN!" :)

ive never used these but aquatraders.com has some realy inexpensive overflows.

Will this work if so i dont have to drill tank

Hay krish will that pump run both skimmer boxes. Need to put hole in U tube ?

I have not drilled any tank myself. I have always found a glass shop to do it.
It usually runs anywhere from $12.50 to $30 per hole.
I have been reading about alot of people doing their own drilling lately, but on a large tank I'll gladly leave it to the pros.
