over top closed loop

I need to know how you prime a gravity fed pump on a over the tope closed loop any one have this system and have any ideas how to do the plumming on it??

Yeah, that link to melev's reef is the one I basically went by when I did mine here http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13588 . Basically all you do to prime the pump Matt, is remove that cap on top and pour water down in the plumbing until it fills up and then you should be good to go

Here's Cesar's closed loop with a SCWD. Kinda easy to see how it was plumbed in this pic. In your case, just minus the SCWD

I guess it was I only had some of the elbow submerged but that's about it and never caused any problems.

If not paint, would ABS work? It is pre-black, i just dont know if it is safe or not.

ABS is what they use for drains and things like that. That is why i dont know if it would be good, because of what they use it for.

I think the only reason no one uses ABS is that it is not rated for the pressures that we put on them. Not sure, but this is what I have heard.

Here is my attempt at an over the top closed loop. it is ran by a 3000 gph dolphin pump, 1.5'' in/out, with 8 3/4'' oulets all on the top, 2 on each side...

Is that 1" after the tee on the top around and then to the 3/4" or 1.5" all the way around the rim?

There are no leaks thank god!
the pvc is 1 1/2'' to the t then 1'' all the way around with 3/4'' reducers for the locline.. it sure does move some serious water too!!!!!!
