Yep! I had the same issue with my 1262. I found some bulk rubber gasket material that comes in a 12" wide roll at Mclendon's. They will cut to length for you off the roll. It's in the plumbing dept.
 
I think I'll go the mouse pad route. I actually have two that I threw away last night. I'll pull one out of the trash bin in my office.

So there's no worry about any chemicals or glue crap from the pad getting in the tank?
 
You can also try weather stripping for door jambs, the 2" stuff is what I use, but the mouse pad is a good idea too.
 
I also saw one guy on another forum he glued two pieces of old clear hose to the bottom of his pump looked like a good idea. I just put a piece of a sponge filter under mine and then use if for my qt tank when I quarantine a fish for the bacteria.
