55g used food grade barrel, smells very faintly of wine (deep inhale) - $15
30 gallons of RO/DI water - $12
Getting home, and realizing I don't have an extension cord long enough to run out to my truck - Painful :yell:

For moving water inside, there's always...manual labor!

LOL! always something, isnt it! Guess we know what you're buying next! haha!

My own RO/DI filter? That would be correct!

I have the 10 filled, waiting for the water to warm up before I add the salt (no sand or rock yet)

Also waiting to hear back on some rock, so with all luck I can start my cycle tomorrow. I just remembered I have a few pieces already here that are dry from when I bought the tank originally, might just toss those in and find a small live rock to start them off with.

Oh man am I sore from tipping that barrel over to pour into a 5gal bucket multiple times last night. But hey! water is in the tank and bringing salinity up!

Luckily, my driveway runs uphill as it goes away from the house.
I bought a drinkingwater-safe hose and cut off the metal fittings. I can then siphon the water (saltwater, when I make a Seattle Aquarium run) from the 60gallon tank in the back of the SUV that is partway up the driveway, through a basement window, into containers in the basement. A bit slow, but it works.

goood luck with it, lol, we manual all our water, its a workout, but i got a135 gallons lol

I used the old PC fixture I had to light it for the pictures, its not nearly as blue as the pictures look.

Looks good!!! Time to cycle! looking forward to seeing the setup, What live stock do you think your going to go with?

Probably some zoas, maybe a couple LPS. This is going to be my "Seed" tank for my 40B once it gets set up.

Now I get to go have the people at safeway give me an odd look :suspicious: when I ask for 1 shrimp LOL

So after looking in, I think I'm going to have to swap out the impeller on my maxi-jet 400. Apparently 500gph is waaaay too much, my sand is drifting all over the place.

IMO the 500gph is not way to much flow, try adjusting it so you dont move as much sand. Most tanks will have a couple of spots were the sand is blown into drifts.

I'll have to play around with it more, I've already adjusted it three times now after scooping some of the sand back down from the dunes lol I know it won't move as much once the cycle is done, so I may just swap in the other impeller for now and then once its ready for corals I'll swap back.

I also have tons of flow. But like someone else said, try to point your flow in a different direction.
try a lower corner and pointing it twardds the top.

Well this is a lovely thing to wake up to. Neither bedroom or the bathroom has power right now. I've checked the breaker box, flipped all, unplugged everything, still no power. Good thing this happened at the beginning of cycling this tank XD
