Params

OK the params on my frshly mixed salt are

ph 8.0 to 8.1
kh 13.1 to 13.8
cal 380 to 390

my tank params right now are

ph 8.0 to 8.1
kh 12.2 to 12.8

didnt have time to test my cal but im sure its fine cause my coraline is going really good!!!

im wondering why my kh is kinda on the high side

i also have a sea buffer and a super buffer, but the sea buffer raises the kh, and the ph,and i wanna almost do the opposite and lower my kh,(which i think has to happen on its own, but how is that gonna happen if my water changes are always high??)

im sure the 13 aint a prob but i would like it a lil lower at least in the low 12s

is therer any thing i can do to raise my ph???

i never have tested it in the day i need to do that today when i wake up!!!

I notices your posting parameters in ranges, why? What salt is giving you that high of alk for fresh mix?

It is high but I doubt its accurate. If your not dosing buffer its not going to go up its only going to go down. I use 50 buckets of IO a year and have never had alk be that high. Its either the test kit, bad salt or operator error, my guess is bad test kit.

hey don i was posting in ranges cause for 1 the color on my ph may have been a lil darker than the green that reped 8.0 so it was my guess that it was between that

as far as the alk i tested and posted in ranges i wasnt sure that it was exact amount of drops cause more than 1 dropped squirted out on the salifert test kit i was using when it started to turn colors. More than 1 drop out of the syringe, its kinda touchy ya knoiw

i tested my ph this morning and it was like around 8.0 still

im gonna use my other api alk test kit and test my alk tomorrow night and see what it says on the water change water and the tank!!!

and yes im using ro/di water, but the di part is almost out, and i bought another di part, but the di that was in there wasnt all the way brown yet so i feeled up 1 more trash can with water in it

i believe the water was around 29 ppm that was in the trash can when it was full so im gonna pull the di cartridge for the rest of my top off water fills

that wouldnt be the reason for the high alk would it????

It might be a faulty Salifert kit. There's been a few crappy batches of Saliferts floating around out there. IO salt usually mixes up to approx 9dkh, at least for me. Glad your getting your params straight.
