I noticed today on my juvenile false percula that the back portion of his body is really dark where it is usually a very light color. I know that clowns eat both green's and meat. He is shy and likes to stay in his flower pot(yes it's not good) so he hasn't been getting the dried seaweed. Today he ate some seaweed finally. But I am wondering what can make the clown turn a darker color on the back.

Judging from the picture it looks like something common to clownfish. They can get dark spots from contact with corals. It won't really hurt the fish, but you may not like the color. Keep an eye on the fish and watch that it eats well and doesn't act strange. BTW, try some frozen spirulina and Formula-Two.

Cheers,
Terry B
