On Sanjays website he has par results for bulbs fired on mulitpul ballasts and bulb combinations but only PFO HQI.

Besides the ability to run DE bulbs, what kinda par loss would be measured on a non HQI ballast? As opposed to over driving a SE bulb on the HQI?
 
Sanjays website has values for many different types of ballast. If you take a second look I bet you'll find what your looking for:)

Not necessarily. Ive spent countless hours studying par output, spectral plot and differences with the same bulb on different ballasts. For example, there is nothing regarding radium bulbs with galaxy or icecap ballasts and the galaxy/radium combo is much talked about on the web.

BCT, If you compare the out puts with the HQI ballast on one and the M59 or M135 on the other, I think you will get something close to the answer your looking for . I believe the older PFO's are an M59 ballast.
 
I cut and pasted this for you of sanjays site. He has more than HQI ballasts for 400 watt maybe I dont understand your question. If your asking to compare the performance of a 400 watt lamp on a HQI ballast to say an electronic or m59 you can do that on his site:)

I was mainly talking about, for example, the par difference between:

400w Hamilton 14K SE bulb with PFO non-HQI ballst
vs.
400w Hamilton 14k SE bulb with PFO HQI ballast

No, your not missing anything. The site is good and very helpful but it doesnt have everything. Dont get me wrong, Ive studied it back and forth and feel as hobbiests we are lucky to have that information available.
I'm sure Sanjay would, and will happily test more and publish his findings when time and money permits. AFAIK he only tests what is donated by hobbiests and manufacuterers. I dont believe testing light bulbs is his full time job. :)

Thanks for clearing that up Boomer. My hard drive (brain) doesnt seem to have the capacity to retain those small bits of information anymore. Im sure I knew that at one time. :oops:

Please read my posts more carefully and you will see that I have been very carefull not to offend anyone. In fact I have been trying to help and made it very clear that maybe I didnt understand exactly what information he wanted.

You should think carefully before you acuse someone of picking a fight.
 
On Sanjays website he has par results for bulbs fired on mulitpul ballasts and bulb combinations but only PFO HQI.

Besides the ability to run DE bulbs, what kinda par loss would be measured on a non HQI ballast? As opposed to over driving a SE bulb on the HQI?

Basically from what I remembered with several comparisons The HQI VRS standard Se's bulb with same bulb color (K) your looking somewhere around 20 to 30% drop off in PAR values, depending on which lamps used. This is just a general range from what I've seen on his test results, to add to that the bulb life is shortened because of the (K) shifting over time & from the get go because it is overdriven.

Is that what your wanting to know without getting into details? That is about as simply put as can be.
