PH dangerously low

I'm getting a skimmer from joanne on Friday. I did have a christmas favia that got stung by my orange crush acan (yes it is an orange crush, some of the new growth started turning green) and died. I didn't remove it because I was hoping part of it would survive, but it didn't. All the flesh turned to brown jelly and started falling off the skeleton, and I threw the remainder in the sump thinking that some pods or bristleworms would make a quick snack of the dead flesh. I guess that was a mistake.

I mixed up 18 gallons of new water and tested it. The ph was exactly where my tank is at now (around 7.7) so I think my water or salt mix is the issue. I added some baking soda, and will wait a minute and test again.

I added another powerhead, did a 25% water change, and put on a reef octopus bh 300f. My tank is now up to 8.1 ph.

ph is now 8.3. Looking good, thanks for everybodys insight. After all this time, I finally got a skimmer right when it was most necessary. I can't believe I made it so long with such a well established fully stocked tank and no major equipment. So much for the past, now I'm livin' in the future!
