PH Probes

Can I have everybodys recommendations for a replacement PH probe, not the electronics, just the probe itself. Wondering about the price difference, and if the higher priced probes are worth the money. Accuracy and longevity are my main concerns.

I wondered a little while back about lab grade probes, and whether or not they were worth the money: Lab Grade Probes. Also, until recently, I always used a Pinpoint pH monitor, however, I now have a AquaController, and what a difference. I thought I had the pinpoint calibrated very well, until I used the AC....and was off by almost 0.2. Can't beat pushing one button for calibration. Remember....your monitor will only be as good as your calibration , and it is important to re-calibrate often with a reliable solution. Best pH Monitor.

Thanks Nikki, I remembered that thread, but could not find it with PH Probe on the search, should of just searched probe.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Yeah, that lab grade probe thread was a good one, IMO. Oh, and no problem on the search....that's why I'm the link queen...remember? lol

Also, what kind of monitor are you using? Just curious

I got am Ultralife MC101 off of EBAY. I bought it for $50, so I figure even if I replace the probe I am way ahead..

Lab grade probes tend to be more consistent, but the majority of normal grade probes seem to be accurate enough for our needs as long as you take care of them. One of the reasons people often find their probes to be problematic is when they place them in areas where they receive a fair amount of interference. Either that or they plug them into a wall socket for power (always use batteries). Broadley James makes a probe that doesn't cost very much and has a great reputation in both the aquaculture and hydroponics industries.
